Getting Used to Doing Something a Certain Way

There are things we end up doing a certain way
simply because that’s how we’ve been doing them.

It’s not something we planned.

At some point, it worked well enough,
so we kept going with it.

And over time, it started to feel familiar.

Familiar enough that we stop thinking about it.

We don’t question it
or look for another way.

Not because we’ve decided it’s the best option,
but because it no longer feels like a decision.

It just feels like the way it’s done.

Even when something else might be easier
or make more sense,
it doesn’t always come to mind.

We’re already moving through it,
following something we’ve repeated enough times
that it no longer stands out.

It usually stays that way
until something interrupts it.

We see it done differently,
or it stops working the way it used to.

And for a moment, it becomes noticeable again.

Not because it changed,
but because we’re finally seeing it from the outside.
