Sometimes, without really noticing it, our attention turns inward.
Not in a reflective way, but in a more constant, checking kind of way—
noticing how things feel and whether something is off.
There are times when this kind of attention is helpful.
It can bring clarity,
or help us understand what we need.
But when it starts happening more often,
it can become harder to step out of.
The more we check,
the more there seems to be to notice.
Small shifts begin to feel more significant.
Things that might have passed on their own start to stand out more,
simply because we’re looking for them.
And over time, it can create a sense that something needs to be figured out,
even when nothing is clearly wrong.
A small shift is noticing the checking itself.
Not trying to stop it completely,
and not forcing our attention elsewhere,
but just recognizing when it’s happening.
That moment of noticing creates a bit of space.
Instead of being fully caught in the checking,
there’s a slight step back from it.
And from there, it can become a little easier
to let things be as they are,
without needing to keep confirming how they feel.
