Sometimes we tell ourselves we’ll come back to something later.
When there’s more clarity.
When it feels easier to decide.
When the timing feels right.
It sounds reasonable.
Like giving something space.
But underneath it, there’s often an assumption
that something will change on its own with time.
That the uncertainty will settle.
That the hesitation will fade.
That a clearer answer will eventually show up.
And sometimes it does.
But often, the feeling stays the same.
Just carried forward into later moments.
So what feels like waiting
can slowly become postponing.
Not in a noticeable way.
Just a quiet shift from not now,
to later,
to not really returning to it at all.
A small shift is noticing when that happens.
Not forcing a decision,
but recognizing when we’re expecting time
to change something we haven’t really engaged with yet.
That can be easy to miss. But when it’s noticed,
it becomes a little clearer what we’ve actually been waiting for.
