Some things are easy to do.
They don’t take much time.
They don’t require much effort.
And still, they get put off.
Not in a big, obvious way.
More in small things—
a message we saw and meant to respond to,
something we picked up but didn’t put back,
a task we thought about for a second and left for a different time.
It doesn’t feel like a decision.
More like a quiet “later”
that doesn’t get questioned.
So it gets left as it is.
And at first, it doesn’t seem like it matters.
Nothing really changes because of it.
But over time, those small things start to build.
Not all at once.
Just gradually.
A few things here and there
that were simple to do,
but never actually done.
And it’s not always about avoiding something difficult.
Sometimes it’s just getting used to leaving things unfinished
because they didn’t feel urgent in the moment.
Until there are enough of them
that it starts to feel a little heavier than it should.
